The Up Coming Year (2007)

The Up Coming Year (2007)-

Ah yes, a New Year of great performances followed by after parties, drunken madness, the occasional and great “open bar” and new music, as well as old favorites. A lot of up’s and down’s of the 2006 year, like band break-up’s new members hectic touring, and new contacts are likely to effect the up coming year 2007 in many ways, good and bad. Musicians and spectators alike are peeking their heads out little by little just to see what the music of 2007 has to offer, with 2007 peeking back at us being that it’s a week away, it looks unpredictable. Two bands to look out for in the up coming year and that has a bright looking future aside from the dense unpredictable fog oozing out of 2007 are both Millsted and Near Forever, with Millsted putting out a very strong E.P. titled (Brief Case) in mid 2006 with powerful songs such as “Flux” and a very crowd dancing influenced “The Culprit”, powered by very different and original chords and guitar leads followed by a very unique and somewhat deep voiced Kelvin Uffre hovering over intense melodies, be sure to check Millsted out on February 9th at the Thrash bar located at 256 Grand st. Brooklyn, NY. (www.myspace.com/millsted)
The next band to look for in the up coming year is a band based out of a wide spread area in NY, known as Near Forever. Near Forever a very influential band to the arts of “music” and a mix of a lot of things boiled into one band; progressive, soul, just a hint of hardcore mixed in, as well as a lot of other things. Four talented musicians, starting with very diverse guitarist Mike intertwined with an on point rhythm section led by Eric (Bass) and Phillip (Drums) and lead singer Randy firing intense melodies out of the non-smoking lungs. Near Forever also released an E.P. in mid 2006 tilted (On Borrowed Time), with very melodic songs such as “Waiting” and “Run” with an explosion of energy especially during their live show, they also played the east coast leg of the 2006 Warped Tour. Be sure to check them out in 2007. (www.myspace.com/nearforever)
All in all it’s going to look like a great year, be sure to go out, have fun, be drunk, buy albums and check out your local scene.-Jason Franquiz
